MODULE 9--Midterm Ethics and Self Analysis

Q 1) An ethical dilemma that I have is lying. I am in a situation where neither of my choices overrides the other and it is a difficult choice to be made. I have a friend named Richard who is in a relationship with a girl named Ava. Ava is cheating on Richard over one of our mutual friends named Alfred. Alfred unaware that Ava is already with someone else, shares about both of them to me. I am unable to resolve this situation as to: should I tell Richard that Ava is cheating on her?

This is a dilemma for me because they both are my friend and knowing about them makes me not pretend about what Ava is doing behind Richard. Also Alfred who doesn’t seem to be knowing that Ava is already with somebody else. This is a prescriptive dilemma as a prescriptive approach to something involves telling people what they should do, rather than simply giving suggestions or describing what is done. Therefore, I am making a prescriptive approach to speak to Ava or by disclosing to Alfred about Ava’s relationship.
